Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology purchases 1:1 Student Computing license of Working Model 2D

Top-Ranking Engineering University Provides Working Model 2D for all students.

Canton, MI (September 10, 2012) – DST (Design Simulation Technologies, Inc.; www.design-simulation.com) of Canton, MI, of Canton, MI, today announced that Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology purchased a 1:1 Student Computing license of Working Model 2D. The world’s bestselling motion simulation product is used by thousands of students and engineers worldwide. Working Model 2D is a conceptual design tool that allows you to create simulations that replace vague, time consuming, and inaccurate calculations. .

U.S. News & World Report ranks Rose-Hulman as the #1 engineering program in the United States, out of schools offering up to master's degree. Located in Terra Haute, Indiana, five of Rose-Hulman's engineering departments (mechanical, electrical, civil, computer, and chemical) are ranked #1 in the nation.

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's mission is to provide students with the world's best undergraduate education in engineering, mathematics and science in an environment of individual attention and support.

"Since 1995 we've required entering freshman to purchase a laptop, and since that date DST’s Working Model 2D has been part of the software suite," said Dr. David Purdy, of Rose-Hulman. "Both the faculty and students like it for dynamic visualization and illustration of mechanical 2D dynamics.

Each incoming Rose Hulman student receives a laptop, fully loaded with CAD and other engineering applications. Rose-Hulman has selected Working Model 2D as the premier 2D motion simulation application for their curriculum needs. ScienceDaily (Jan. 22, 2010) — According to research of over a dozen years of "1 to 1" computing, studies show the students in these programs outperformed their peers in traditional classrooms.

"Access to professional-level software is important for school-to-work skills," said Jeff Arrigotti, DST Worldwide Sales Director. "Working Model 2D provides students with tools and problem solving experience immediately applicable when they enter the workforce."

About DST

DST develops physics-based simulation software. The company's products are used by engineering professionals to build and test virtual models of their mechanical designs, and by STEM educators and students in the classroom to teach and learn about physics and engineering kinematics, dynamics, and machine design.

With DST's SimWise 4D, Working Model 2D, and Dynamic Designer products, users evaluate design performance, by conducting complete, accurate simulations. Engineers, professors and students can quickly perform “what-if” analyses, find and correct design problems, plus refine and validate designs without the need for physical prototypes.

Students in high school and college use Interactive Physics, DST's award-winning educational software, to explore and understand the physical world through simulation.

DST develops, markets, and supports these software tools for commercial and academic users worldwide. Selected DST products are available from leading CAD suppliers and CAE resellers. Learn more by visiting the DST website at www.design-simulation.com.
